What would this world be without music? Music is a combination of sounds originating from our deepest feelings. It is the ability to feel, and become sensitive to the aesthetic qualities of life. Music is closely linked to religion and culture. It helps us to express our deepest emotions with delight and enthusiasm. Music can cross boundaries like few other form of expression. It can be used to color every aspect of our lives. Music and religion go together. They are different sides of the same coin. Music enhance our emotions. It is not intellectual.
From the time we are born until are old, we need music to enhance our lives and make it interesting. Music can bring healing on many levels in our lives and can strengthen us emotionally. There are many kinds of music to choose from. We can make our own choices according to the occasion. If it is the music that suits us, it can transform us to another world.
Music was created to add beauty to our life and surroundings. It is a form of expression for the beauty and love that is all around us. Music brings joy and excitement to all our celebrations: birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or other important occasions. Every kind of people enjoy music: rich and poor, sick or healthy, happy or sad find meaning and happiness in their lives.
It is considered that music orginated from Greece around 600 B.C. It was Pythagorus who believe it as a form of science and develop the basis of modern music. Greeks had a passion for music and cultivate great artistic skills. After Rome fell, the Catholic church became very involved and establish itself in history as the development for musical arts.
During this time India and China were also progressing in music. It was during the Renaissance 1450 -1600 that music was first printed. As people realize the significance of language, composers want to give deeper meaning to words in their songs. Music was mainly performed in courts, churches and towns.
The music of India is considered one of the oldest, and is said to have its origins at the time of the Vedas. This music is based on a combination of vocal, instrumental and dance known as sangeet. Indian music has continued to develop over the centuries to make it one of the most established form of music in the world. It is the basis of the rich cultural and traditional heritage of India.
Movies became very popular as music as added to the development of films. It became more interesting to understand for entertainment. As time progress, music and films became one of the largest entertainment industries in the world. Additonal forms of expression to music like costumes, dancing, singing and joyous celebrations. Music helps people to fill their life with purpose and accomplishment. It gives life color, inspiration and romance.
Music has great potential to transform humanity. As religion is uplifting, music also has the power to inspire and enlighten. In India, music is more than entertainment, but a crucial part of religion. One of the greatest expressions of religion is through music. The soul expresses his thoughts toward God in song, music and art. Music and religion are two earthly and heavenly treasures.
Music can be used as a tool for music therapy from a variety of different cultures. It has a powerful influence that it can be used for healing purposes. Today music can be enjoyed in a greater variety through several form of communication. They are available through television, DVDs, radio and films. We will continue to need music for this universal quality in our lives.
